Publish America Submission Process

publish America

Here are some questions people have asked and the answers are below

How can you publish without charging me a fee?

Just like any other traditional publisher, we earn our income by selling books, not by charging publishing fees to our authors. We pay our authors a royalty payment for each book sold. By 2006 we had paid out more than $1 million in royalties. We sell a book every sixteen seconds every day.

How long will it take to publish my book?

It depends. Factors that affect the production time that are beyond our control include how well written the manuscript is and how quickly the author can work with us during the process.

We can release a book in as little as six to eight weeks from the signing of the contract; however, most books will be released in four to six months from the signing of the contract.

All authors published with Publish America sign a contract to have their work published. As such, we can only enter a contract with those authors who are eighteen (18) or older.

Do you accept submissions from my country?

Currently, PublishAmerica is open to submissions from the United States, Canada, Western Europe, India, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

What genres are you interested in seeing?

PublishAmerica is currently open to all genres except:
Coffee table books
Screenplays/scripts/movies
Theses
Text-books
Gift Books
Books of quotes

How long does my book have to be?

In general, we require books have a minimum of 4,000 words. Poetry books must contain at least 50 poems. Children's picture books must be a minimum of five pages and no more than 45.

There is no upper page or word count limit for what we consider.

We can consider works in progress or shorter works to which the author would like to add material in order to meet the minimum requirements. Please fill out the form below to contact us about such a book.

I want to include illustrations in my book. Is that OK?
Will you provide illustrations for my book?
Can you recommend an illustrator?

Yes. Please do include illustrations, pictures or graphics that you want considered when submitting your manuscript.

PublishAmerica does have an in-house illustration service for our children's picture books. If you are interested in this service, please contact us via the form below. We cannot recommend outside illustrators.

Self Publishing Vs. Publisher's

Every writer dream is to have their work in print as well as to make money from what they love best. One thing for sure is the difference between self publishing and a company publishing a book. Self publishers have all the rights and revenue and will have to stay committed and dedicated to marketing their work 100%. Publishing with a company can be an ease if the author doesn't want to deal with the stressfulness of the necessary actions needed in order to get their work in as many people hands as possible. It all depends on how far the writer is willing to go to reach his or her goal.

Some publisher's such as Author House and Dorrance Publisher charge a large fee just to publish author's work, but why should an author pay to get published if the publisher find the work interesting? It might be easier to some folk to spend about $20,000 because no hard work is done on the author's part and the author's work will be found in a popular bookstore like Barnes and Noble, but half of the money made will be paid to the publisher just for doing the job that the author didn't want to do. Getting a manuscript accepted to these companies and many others can be challenging but being professional and following the submission guidelines are very important. They are the keys to a rejection or acceptance.

Many self publisher's are turning to online publisher's, such as Lulu. Lulu allow authors to upload their manuscript, create a unique front and back cover with their book cover design template, and set their own prices. Help is within reach at www.lulu.com for author's that want a distribution package: ISBN number, custom design, editing, marketing, and world wide print at places like Borders, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and more! Authors who choose not to get the distribution package will basically have to do all the marketing themselves, but there are free marketing tools: widgets, storefront, Google book search, web banners and buttons. There are websites to promote at WeRead and Intrepid Media. The key to being successful with online publisher's is using all the free tools to their maximum.

Being a best seller writer is terrific and requires hard work and dedication. No matter how it is done, the outcome is rewarding. Learn from rejection and keep reading more, searching, and staying positive.

Linking: All Poets Post Your Piece Here! I'll Start First....

Photobucket

Pieces of the puzzle are finally together

The answer is still at hand

Obstacles faced on this fantastic journey will someday benefit his strength

The courage to love deep

In his heart his children sleep

To be in their lives

Day by day

Night by night

Second by second

Keeps him hoping,

Alive,

Keeps him to strive for a better life

He is going,

Strolling

Like an energizer battery

His family stays tight like a knot in a tie

When it unfolds,

His family is in line

A real man is hard to find!

A real man knows how to love a woman

Caresses it with his pleasant voice

He encourages,

Empowers,

And enlightens her mind

When she is weak in her mind,

Body,

Spirit

His affectionate nature gives her no choice

It lets her accept love “as is”

His knowledge of a perfect home is with his family

That is why he live

Continue moving forward

Never giving up

He put food on the table as he washes up

All the baggage that is put on him

He stays strong for his dame and children

He lifts his hands high and higher

Never letting them fall

The power of a united family is what keeps them build up standing tall

Like an alter build from bricks

It would take more than a hurricane to thrash its walls

The only element that is not kept a secret is his courage and honesty to love

“A Good Man is Hard to Find “, wrote Flannery O Conner

A good man has polite manners, says the old lady

His smile is soft

And gestures are acceptable in taking charge

He hides his punctual emotion far beneath the heartache

His adversary is past experience

Naturalizing his image

He speak with such intelligence

Acts upon deep thought

Regardless of all of these things

His manhood is pure as earth

Responsibility is taken care of

Actions are based on factual beliefs

“A Good Man is hard to find”

A real man is he

Butterfly Kisses
